Sigmund Family Memorial
Bürgerhospital in Frankfurt am Main

The hospital was not completely destroyed during the war, like many other buildings in Frankfurt. After the war, it was restored and modernized. It is still in use as a hospital.

Lieselotte was born on July 9, 1929 at the Bürgerhospital on Nibelungenallee in Frankfurt am Main.
A month earlier, on June 12, 1929, Anne Frank was born in this hospital.

Germany had enjoyed a few years of reasonable stability, but politically there was great division.
Hitler's NSDAP had received only 2.6% of the vote in 1928.
