Sigmund Family Memorial

Kurt Albert
In 1940, the Sigmund family moved from Aerdenhout to Bussum. They went to live with the de Nooij family. Lotte was 10 years old at the time, and Koert was around 6.
Grandmother Netta also lived with the families for a short time. It was a busy household where people lived in close proximity to each other.

Ernst and Käthe were occupied with the newly established toy factory Sio. Mr. de Nooij was a fine painter and had a workshop behind the house. Father and Mother Sigmund traveled to Vroomhoop every week, where they also regularly stayed overnight. Lotte and Koert were then looked after by the babysitters, Mr. and Mrs. de Nooij. Koert went to the workshop with Mr. de Nooij, where he made the Jantje drawings in his notebook. Mr. and Mrs. de Nooij wrote little poems in Lotte's Poesie album.
Lotte played the violin, music filled the house, there was life.

Coert Albert, Albert
In May 1942, by order of the Nazis, the possessions of the Sigmund family in the house and barn were inventoried, stored, and sealed, including Lotte's violin. The entire Sigmund family was forced to move to Asterdorp in Amsterdam. With that, Lotte and Koert disappeared from the lives of the De Nooij family, the children with whom they had a close bond during the years they lived in the same house.
Almost family.

During a bombing raid on Bussumn, March 1945, a son was born to the De Nooij family. They named the baby Coert Albert. Later, a grandson was given Albert as a second name.

In this way, the names of Kurt Albert live on in the De Nooij family, who were very close to the Sigmunds.
